Air Dispatch Supports UN Troop Deployment
Air Dispatch were called on recently to provide operational support to one of our customers for a series of flights in support of a significant UN troop deployment to the Lebanon, coincidentally this would also mark the arrival of the first US Registered Civilian aircraft for thirty years.
Two Air Dispatch staff travelled with the flights and provided the carrier with ground support, load planning and load supervision. In addition it had been planned that we would make payment for all third-party charges for handling and airport fees in Jakarta. When it became apparent that we would also need to cover all costs in Beirut we were able to step in at short notice to guarantee payment.
Air Dispatch maintained a direct communication link between, the airline, the handler the UN representatives in Jakarta and Beirut. Air Dispatch reps were able to ensure that the customer was kept constantly up to date on the operation, ensuring a smooth ground operation for the loading of both equipment and passengers and a minimum ground time for the airline.
The Lebanese politician Pierre Gemayel was assassinated during the planning phase for the flights and the funeral was planned for the same day as the arrivals in Beirut this meant that we had to undertake a detailed security and contingency planning exercise.
The flights all took place without delay and the end user’s and airline were very happy.
