Air Dispatch involved in Lebanese evacuation flights
‘This has been an example of the strength of Air Dispatch in Germany,’ added James Johnson. ‘Our customers were able to place their operation in our hands, knowing that they would be complying with all local, national and international regulations.’
Air Dispatch received a call from one of its client airlines at 7pm in the evening to advise them that they had just fixed a series of evacuation flights from the Lebanon.
These were to be the first flights bringing out Evacuees so we had to liaise with the Military the Airline and the UK Foreign office to set up the procedures. At 7AM the next morning our rep boarded the aircraft to fly to a military base in Cyprus to oversee the operation and act as the Ground Security Coordinator.
As the carrier was a US airline a number of additional security measures had to be adhered to which given the passengers were still on a warship en Route to Cyprus and the number and name of them was not known added to the complexity, to further add to the issues the destination of the flight changed several times and was only finalised 5 hours before the arrival in the UK.
The operation was completed on time and without issues by Air Dispatch showing again how we can react swiftly to any situation.
